i don't want to get the 0.78 mame pack at 26gb if i can avoid it. I really like this "all killer no filler" rom pack i found. how do i utilize a dat or xml file or the hash info to link thumbnails to a different named rom? i cant possibly be the first person to want thumbnails.with actual game titles.there has to be some other solution other than wet thumbing my way through the entire library CtrlC CtrlV for 500 game titles to line up with their thumbnails. I can even add the libretro covers and most seem to work. lpl which I cant seem to replicate using the playlist buddy. it also seems to add a hash value in the. i can build a playlist (.lpl) on my PC using retroarch and it is pretty good, it solves one of my problems of turning the machine name of the ROM into a regular game title. 1/2.1/4.i.its s a trick!!!.….its a unit of measure somewhere between 0 and -1 multiplied by itself it gives you -1 and because we don't have a large enough understanding of mathematics to fully understand it yet we just call it i and multiply it by -1 later its fun no matter what answer I get back. You can still load any game through "Load Content" in the menu, whether it is in the RetroArch database or not, doesn't matter.I love that equation because usually if you know a little bit about something you consider yourself pretty smart! most other people who know a lot about a subject realize they are not an expert and have a lot to learn. Create XMB Shortcuts for starting RetroArch Playable roms directly. Scanning the files is actually just optional and for convenience. In truth though, I wouldn't get too preoccupied with this. follow this link to see which ROMsets RetroArch is actually looking for (hint, it's mostly no-intro and redump):

There are groups out there who compile collections of ROMs. Many ROMs have different versions out there in the wild. In other words, the scanner is not making any guesses on which game is which, it is only accepting a bit-perfect copy of the game. This means that if you had the ROM it's looking for and then you modify even a single little insignificant bit within the file, it would no longer be identified properly because the hash result would be completely different. Basically the answer is that it scans the ROMs and decides which game is which based on a file hash.
